Your mission is to travel in time back to the year 1864 in the newly formed U.S. territory of New Mexico. This beautiful and rugged territory is populated by Native Americans, Spanish-speaking families who have lived in New Mexico through Spanish, Mexican, and American governments, U.S. Army personnel, and emigrants from the eastern United States looking for a new start in the West. There are many conflicts and controversial events here.

In the year of 1864, thousands of Navajos were forced to leave their land and travel on foot to a reservation at a place called Bosque Redondo. Some of them had to travel more than 450 miles by foot, and many died along the way from cold, starvation, or murder. This trip came to be known as "The Long Walk"

Your job will be to learn as much as you can about what is going on in New Mexico at this time!
