Logo Locker gives students the opportunity to investigate the creation and meaning of logos. It also introduces graphic design as a career choice. Students begin to understand the significance of visual marketing. This lesson is best applied in the middle grades.

Outcomes
- Students will investigate the career of graphic design.
- Students will recognize and understand the significance of logos.
Process
Tips: This lesson is a good companion lesson to Media Literacy: Advertising Campaign and to Advantageous Advertising.
- Students identify the given logos.
- Students discuss the questions presented.
- Students create their own logos or recreate a favorite one.
- Students explain why they chose the colors, shapes, size, symbols for their logos.
Tasks
- Design a logo for a product that is not selling well.
- Redesign an old logo (Tootsie Roll, Chevrolets Bow Tie, etc.)
- Work in cooperation with another class to design logos for the school, grade levels, clubs, etc.
Assessment
Students may be assessed on their abilities to discuss the questions. They may display their logos for the class.
