Custom Workshops

This program was a huge success. Audrey Powell and Sherrie West met and exceeded all of the program goals. Teachers were encouraged and taught how to use the more advanced concepts of the Microsoft Office suite. They were encouraged to think outside their comfort zone and use more complex methods to encourage the skillful use of technology in the classroom. Teachers learned to create web pages, which introduced a different method of parent/teacher communication.

We believe our program was a huge success because of Audrey Powell and Sherrie West and their unique abilities as facilitators.

DDDM Workshops

I want to share the success of the RETA team that provided DDDM training in Albuquerque Public Schools! The day was a well-planned session that included the DDDM process, hands-on classroom examples, the opportunity to work with technology tools, and built-in reflection periods to comprehend information and build understanding for 58 teacher leaders. They brought their professional development expertise to the session and met the needs of the audience. They each have unique talents and their collaborations made for an eventful day! Thank you for providing the opportunity for APS and RETA to work collaboratively to support the needs of our elementary teacher leaders and instructional coaches.

NMTA Workshops

I wanted to write a short note to tell you that I have passed the Teacher Competency test and thank you for having the RETA program set up for those teachers who are having a difficult time.

— RETA Participant, 2007

Dear Angels, I finally passed my last part of the New Mexico Teaching Comp. Exam - after 19 tries. I remembered everything and everyone's words of advice and assistance through those nights discussing our problems. Thank you again for being there for me and many others.

I just wanted to let you know that I passed the New Mexico Teacher Assessment basic skills test. Woooo whooo.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I was a member of the prep class for the March test. I received my score last night and I passed with flying colors. I want to thank you and all of the other mentors for your support. You helped me prepare for the test. I really don't think I could have done as well without you.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I only took your workshop for the first two weeks, but what I had read and studied during that time was a significant help, believe it or not. The scenarios presented were valid and very helpful with the Competency exam. I passed with a 275.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I just received your e-mail and wanted to respond and let you know I passed my teacher competency exam this past June. I am excited and cannot stop smiling.... It was tough but I was thankful I prepared using the RETA NMTA resource. I truly believe it helped me get that extra edge. Thanks.

— RETA Participant, 2007

Good to hear from you. I have not gotten an official test report but I printed an unofficial test score and it says I passed.

Other Workshops

Enjoyed this weekend at the RETA PD 2008 Podcasting and Vodcasting Workshop at NMSU! A very special thanks to all of you for all your time and effort in manifesting all of this. This workshop and everything included in the whole weekend was professional development at its highest level. I feel so fortunate to be part of this learning community and this network of amazing and wonderful people. Thank you for giving us all the opportunity to grow professionally and then to be able to share this information with other teachers and our students. This is such a great working model and positive force. Being part of RETA, attending quality workshops and webinars these last few years has been such an incredible journey! Thanks again, Vicki Evans:)

PDD Workshops

I liked the guidance given to me by the instructors and the positiveness they gave to me in being able to be successful in the dossier process.

— RETA Participant, 2008

I submitted (my Professional Development Dossier) this morning. Thank you so much for your knowledge, encouragement, and faith as you worked with us through this process. I will let you know on April 12th when I pass.

— RETA Participant, 2008

Every suggetion made during the workshop was incorporated within the next workshop. The instructors were very inturned to the participants needs. They were patient and sincere. They turly want every particiapant to succeed and did what they could to assist us.

— RETA Participant, 2008

The instructors had a vast knowledge of what was needed and how to help us achieve success. I enjoyed working with both of them and I learned alot.

— RETA Participant, 2008

Wanted to share this with all of you and if you could pass this on to Jill and the other instructors that helped me in the RETA program, I would appreciate it.  I PASSED ALL MY TESTS!!!!

— RETA Participant, 2007

I wanted to thank all of you for putting on the RETA program, that is a super idea and if you need any help in the future, I will be more than happy to put my two cents in. Thank you.

— RETA Participant, 2007

YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! I passed Strand B. Thank God. My heart was beating 100 miles an hour. Anyways, thanks a million, a billion, and a trillion for all you did for me. I appreciate it.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I am emailing you to share the good news that I passed the Level I to Level II PDD with the help of your classes and instructor Colleen Abromowich. Thanks for the support.

— RETA Participant, 2007

Thank you for helping us get Margaret and Asha to teach the dossier class. They are both such an asset to our school district as teachers, mentors and dossier instructors. I hope we can again work together next school year to provide this service to our teachers.

— RETA Participant, 2007

You two are wonderful! What a valuable training you provided us. I don't remember ever walking away from a training feeling like it was such a success. Thanks for sharing your expertise! Our District is blessed to be bartering with you two. Have a great week!

— RETA Participant, 2007

I became more aware of what and how I am teaching.

— RETA Participant, 2007

The instructors were very knowledgeable about the topic and the process. They made me feel comfortable.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I really enjoyed these workshops and the reflection and feedback I received from my peers attending the workshop. But, what I liked best was my RETA instructors reviewing our dossiers and giving us feedback that helped us with revision. I also liked our guest speaker who experienced the workshop and dossier the prior year coming in to speak to us.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I feel the program is well designed. The support and assistance I received from all the staff and dossier reviewers was so great. I feel this was a real challenge and with their support, I was able to be successful at this.

— RETA Participant, 2007

The trainers were so helpful. They were available at all times to assist. They remained calm, supportive, and patient throughout the entire process.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I wouldn't change anything. The instructors had a general session to focus the group, and then they provided individual help. I appreciated the collaboration with others, and the reminders to stay on track.

— RETA Participant, 2007

The training was very informative but the best part about the workshop was sharing our dossiers and getting ideas from our instructors.

— RETA Participant, 2007

The training was very informative but the best part about the workshop was sharing our dossiers and getting ideas from our instructors.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I really liked the way the instructors worked with each person. Every question that was asked was answered in a positive way. I felt I learned something new every time I attended a workshop.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I loved our instructors whose problem-solving abilities were legion!

— RETA Participant, 2007

The help that I was able to receive from my instructors was great. The patience the instructors had was awesome. They were extremely helpful and informative. I don't feel I could have submitted my dossier successfully without them.

— RETA Participant, 2007

The workshops really helped me focus on the things that I needed to address, without the workshop I wouldn't have been as successful or thorough!

— RETA Participant, 2007

I would not have been able to complete the dossier if we did not have the workshop. It is a very overwhelming process. Our presenters were well organized and did a fantastic job guiding us through the process. Mrs. Meeks was also available when I needed her to help me with the technology of the process. The encouragement and patience was greatly appreciated. I don't know how teachers can successfully complete the dossier with out the workshops.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I liked to fact that level three teachers reviewed my dossier and gave me valuable feedback.

— RETA Participant, 2007

The instructors were very willing to help, above and beyond what would be expected. Very positive and supportive.

— RETA Participant, 2007

The experience with the professional development dossier workshops have made me more aware of my teaching practices and has allowed me to reflect on ways to improve for the success of the students in my classroom.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I think Drew and Celia are wonderful. I really don't believe that I could have completed my dossier without their guidance and encouragement. I would strongly recommend this program, and these instructors.

— RETA Participant, 2007

The delivery is exceptional. I highly recommend this course to anyone going to the next licensure level.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I appreciate the positive attitude the RETA instructors have. It helps me continue trying to complete my dossier. The dossier is a daunting task, and the instructors make it easier to complete it. Their encouragement is greatly appreciated.

— RETA Participant, 2007

The feeling of "I can do this!" was inspired by Thea and Carl.

Technology Integration Workshops

My teaching practices have changed in that I am more aware of what and how I am doing in the classroom and how it affects the needs of my students who are especially important to me.

— RETA Participant, 2008

Over the many free RETA courses I've signed up for, I have learned to not fear the computer. I especially appreciate learning how to use Microsoft movie maker, digital and video cameras and the internet.

— RETA Participant, 2008

Whenever I attended a RETA class, I truly appreciated the assistance I received with the technology questions I had and with understanding processes of programs. Even though I felt I had little experience or knowledge with technology, the teachers never looked down on my lack of knowledge or skills. I appreciated that a lot.

— RETA Participant, 2008

The limited amount of tech savvy that I have, I owe to RETA and my RETA instructors. Originally I cried when told I had to learn to use a computer and now I have a smartboard in my room as well as two student computers and access to a lab when needed. I am eager to learn more and be able to create more interesting and exciting lessons using tech. It really does catch my students interest.

— RETA Participant, 2008

I find that the RETA classes can handle the wide range of technology experiences that teachers come to the workshops with.

— RETA Participant, 2008

I've attended numerous RETA workshops (but not in the last few years). Reta has had more impact on my teaching than anyother classes/workshops I've attended.

— RETA Participant, 2008

Thank you for the informative and fun class. Keep up the great work!

— RETA Participant, 2007

I just wanted to send you a quick note thanking you for your excellent training yesterday. Our staff responded well to the training.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I am more confident in my teaching and I know what I need to do constantly improve my instruction in the classroom and extending that beyond the halls of the schools.

— RETA Participant, 2007

I'm more in tune with a variety of methods to individualize instructions.
